GENERATIONS
PROJECT
Generations is a year long project which enables diverse community groups, indivduals, young people and families to record, explore and conserve their own histories, culture and past through workshops, schools work and arts projects, culminating in an anthology of short stories.
Aims of the Project
To represent Black & Minority Ethnic communities’ history in an educational environment and help theses communities to take their place in the history of Stevenage.
To record a different way of life before it is lost and give children and young people from the wider community in Stevenage the opportunity to learn a part of their history and culture.
To produce an historical exhibition through displays and a website which can be archived and accessed by future generations in Stevenage and across the county.
To build the capacity of the Stevenage World Forum and develop a stronger volunteer base for future cultural activities.
